In the Financial Industry:
A very large financial services company engaged Soaring Eagle Consulting to help meet an extremely aggressive SLA in a new product they were launching. This company, the 6th largest credit card processing company in the world, was about to deliver a credit processing service to their large retail clients that would turn-around a credit card approval/denial in under 6 seconds from the time that the card was swiped…and do this in extremely large volume.
The challenges lay in both the database layer and the .NET layer. Soaring Eagle engaged one of the top .NET consultants in the industry to work with us to address this issue. After about 2 weeks of work onsite and off, we were able to deliver the full performance they needed in order to meet the new product SLA.
In the Healthcare Industry:
A major pharmacy company was experiencing extremely sluggish database performance because of an unacceptable response time. By the end of the first day onsite, our consultant was able to address and reduce an average response time of 17 Second all the way down to .1 Second. Furthermore, the CPU impact was lowered from 97% utilization on 8CPUs down to only 4% of 4CPUs. This resulted in much happier users (internal and external) and a financial savings that allowed them to continue using the same hardware and avoiding a costly hardware upgrade.
In the Manufacturing Industry:
One of our clients who provides backend processing support to the multi-level marketing industry (they handle order processing, product fulfillment, commission accounting and a variety of other services for Amway-like companies) ran into a series of performance nightmares when they added a new and high volume client to their service. Poor database design and a number of other factors led to the database being overstressed. The new client threatened to cancel the service if performance was not improved. We deployed a consultant to address the issue. After several days of tuning work, their performance moved into fully acceptable levels and we signed a retained services agreement with the company.
